Sora Wig I by xHee-Heex Sora Wig I by xHee-Heex
A compilation of photos of my Sora wig- from beginning to end.

I used a Punky and Punky XL (in different shades of brown, due to a mix-up with Cosworx) for the base, and only used Aquanet for styling product.

I need to get some really nice shots of the back of the wig, since it's my favorite part, but these will have to do! Thanks to everyone who gave me compliments, I'm very happy with how this one turned out.

More wighead photos can be found here [link]

Hi there! I just wanted to say this wig is absolutely fantastic and looking at this has actually helped get me started on my OWN sora wig! I have to ask though, I have never heard of aquanet and I looked into its prices and it seems pretty cheap. How well does it hold? I have been using got 2 b which holds pretty well but I wanted to look into some other products too o3o

Got2BGlued is MUCH stronger than Aquanet, but I love using both! Sometimes you don't need a super strong hold, and that's when Aquanet really comes in handy. If you enjoy how Got2BGlued is working for you though, I wouldn't worry about trying to change things up!

I'm afraid I don't have a tutorial for this, but hopefully with the photos going through all the steps of progress, it shouldn't be too hard! :3 You can find wefting and spiking tutorials all over the web to help you!

I want to cosplay as sora from KH2 next year, but i dont know what to do with the wig since i never stylet a wig before. Should i do like you and put two wig (or whatever) together or do you have any easyer suggestion?

That's entirely up to you, my friend! I put two wigs together because I knew I wanted a lot of volume to work with, but it isn't exactly necessary for this kind of look. KH2 Sora has a lot more spikes, and since they're slimmer, you could probably get away with just one base wig if you didn't want to go through the trouble of adding wefts. Good luck to ya!

I'm not very familiar with the series, but I'd look into a wig like the Punky/Punky XL (New Look wigs) or a Jareth (Arda Wigs). They're all really nice wigs in terms of volume.

That's impressive! Even more so that you only used aquanet. :iconiderpitplz:

Did it stay well only using that, or would you suggest using harder gels?
Reply
:iconxhee-heex:
xHee-Heex Featured By Owner Jan 27, 2011
I don't like gels for wigs, as they're quite heavy and usually leave the plastic fibers looking... crunchy? And I've never had a problem with Aquanet. Some parts of my wig need touching up at the tips, but none of the spikes have actually fallen apart and it stayed together very well at the actual convention.

I got mine from Cosworx, even though they don't sell New Look wigs anymore. You can also find them at Amphigory!

What colors did you use for the wig? Looks like a Brown or a Medium Brown to me... honestly I can't tell that there are two different shades, even though I spent like an hour trying to see it after you pointed it out! I always get excited when I see a new wig from you. [/lurker]

The colors are (or were, now that they're all infused together!) pretty easy to note the differences in when the wigs were seperate, but I originally ordered... sheesh, either two 8s or two 6s. I honestly can't remember which.

But I hope that helps!

You used two wigs for this? You said Punky and Punky XL so I'm confused @_@ Which one do you think I should use to try to make a good sora wig? The original or the XL? This looks super fantastic.

I tried to use a Punky XL for Roxas, but I had to dye it from white-ish to blonde, and that royally messed it up. QAQ"

Wait, so how did you use heat on your wig? I thought heat would mess wigs up?
Reply
:iconxhee-heex:
xHee-Heex Featured By Owner Oct 22, 2010
You obviously can't use too high a heat on wigs, but many can take warm heat from a blowdryer. They also make heat resistant wigs that can take much more.
