Cosplay Wings - Ultimecia

I've received a few different questions on my wings for my Ultimecia cosplay [link] so I've compiled a few in-progress shots to go along with my wee lil' explaination.

For the jist of my wings I followed Jia's wing tutorial [link]

And as such I used the following materials:

1 lb. white turkey flats (from rainbowfeathers.com)
1 yard strung black rooster feathers (also from rainbowfeathers)
1 small roll of chicken wire
9 gauge metal wire
White felt (batting would probably have worked better)
Mattress Foam (for the wing boarder, not shown in this photo)
Antron Fleece (to cover the boarder, also not shown in photo)
Scissors
Lots and lots of hot glue

To get the shape I wanted, I covered my kitchen floor in paper and traced my body's outline, then drew how I wanted the wings to fit according to that.

From there, I bent the wire into that shape and then filled it out with the chicken wire. The felt was glued on top of that, and then the feathers on top of that!

Also: I only purchased one pound of turkey feathers. Due to this, there are a few places on the wings that I feel are rather thin (I used all but three feathers, all left wing!). In the future I may just shell out the money for a pound a piece and save the left overs for any future projects.
