Hobbit

This was just taken with 's cellphone, but I love it! My hobbit feet be lookin' pretty nice there. :3

Anywho, for the Texas Renaissance Festival this year I decided a couple days in advance to go as a hobbit, and my twin and I had been planning Merry and Pippin for a while- so Merry it was! Because I was on a time crunch I kept things simple, so there is still a lot of detailing I need to do on the vest, and I also need to make his coat! I also hemmed by pants WAY too short, so I probably need to remake them completely. But I'm very happy with how everything turned out, especially my feet that I made the night before on a whim!

The feet are just foam, so there's no special tricks there, and the ears are latex ones I've purchased online (they're a few years old so I don't remember where I got them exactly- I'm sorry!). I also made my brooch out of craft foam, floral wire, and puffy paint, but I'd really like to buy the real replica for the next time I wear him, which should be at the premier of The Hobbit!!

--and, a funny story about this costume. Yes, I'm supposed to be Meriodic Brandybuck, but just about EVERYONE was calling me Bilbo (except for those calling me Frodo or those calling me... Link. ;~; Yes, that happened). So my friends just called me Bilbo Swaggins for the rest of our trip, which was pretty fun. I do think I resemble Bilbo more than Merry, so I'm probably going to have to cosplay him soon, too!!
